What is an ex-libris? Ex-libris or commonly known as a bookplate is a printed or decorative label pasted into a book, often on the front endpaper, to indicate ownership. Personalized bookplates have specialized designs that are unique to the person or institution they belong to. In most cases, individuals and libraries use bookplates to show proof of ownership.
